Northland Field Days - Gate

Sport & Culture

The college aims to provide a range of activities which will widen the interests and skills of the pupils, which can be continued into later community life, and which enables the natural resources of the area to be used.   Some of these will be covered in classroom lessons, and others as part of our outdoor education, sports and cultural programmes.

Just some of the sporting and cultural events students participate in are:

Soccer (Boys & Girls) Rugby (Boys & Girls) Cricket Touch Trap Shooting
Netball Volleyball Basketball Table Tennis Beach Volleyball
Athletics (track/field) Waka Ama Hockey Swimming Debating
Choir Stage Challenge Performing Arts Singing Manu Korero
Kapahaka Science Fair Cross Country Hip-Hop Rapping

If enough students have an interest in a particular activity, we can organise programmes for them.

Where at all possible, college pupils are encouraged to participate for college groups, particularly at senior levels.  If a pupil has poor behaviour or attendance this will result in the pupil being withdrawn from teams or school trips.

Bay of Islands College has an outstanding record of success in many sporting and cultural activities.  You can read more about the successes of our students in the regular school newsletters on the events page.
